The Tampa Bay Lightning look to book their ticket to the Eastern Conference final as they host the New York Islanders at Amalie Arena in game five on Sunday.
The New York Islanders failed to hold their ground on home ice this week as they dropped both games at the Barclay’s Center and now are one loss away from their season coming to a crashing halt as they trail 3-1 against a Lightning team that has surprised by many by their playoff dominance. The Isles became a trendy pick to do some damage in these playoffs after landing in the Atlantic division bracket and after they outlasted the Panthers in a seven game set to start the playoffs they got things started quickly with a big game one victory against the Bolts, but have since dropped four in a row and now look like they’re on the outs. New York wasn’t great on the road this season but they are going to have to find a way to win two of their next three games on the road if they’re going to continue their chase for a Stanley Cup title.

The Lightning have been the talk of the Eastern Conference playoffs of late as they have gone from a team without their best player and destined for a first round exit to one that has cruised through their first 10 playoff games and are just a win away from advancing to their second straight Eastern Conference final. Tampa Bay is still without Steven Stamkos but the likes of Tyler Johnson, Nikita Kucherov, and Jonathan Drouin have been brilliant and with Ben Bishop in the crease it gives Tampa the edge in that department as well in what could be another series clincher at Amalie Arena. Tampa and New York should go the distance but based on circumstance and the fact that Tampa has won three in a row and coming back home tonight I think they wrap up the series with another victory that could go to overtime.
