The Sharks look to get back in the series and even things up before heading home as they take on the Blues in St. Louis for game two on Tuesday night.
The San Jose Sharks couldn’t have had any worse luck than they did in their series opener of the Western Conference final and in the end it cost them the game as they dropped to the Blues by a 3-1 final and now have to play their way back into the series on Tuesday night. The Sharks were able to get plenty of shots on target but Brian Elliott was excellent in the St. Louis goal but the Sharks know that if they stay the course they will be in good shape as they have the edge up front and if they can wear down the Blues back end they should be in a good spot to generate scoring chances and with time they will be able to scores some goals. Martin Jones will get the start as he will go up against Elliott who has responded nicely after getting pulled towards the end of last round against the Dallas Stars.

The Blues meanwhile are in the driver’s seat right now after harnessing the momentum from their impressive game seven win in Dallas to a series opening win against the Sharks but the Blues were lucky to escape with a victory as the Sharks were the better team for most of the game. St. Louis has drawn a tough schedule to start these playoffs as they started with the Blackhawks and then moved into Dallas but the Sharks look to be their biggest test as they have a very nice balance of offense and defense and face a motivated side that has never qualified for the Stanley Cup final and look destined to snap out of that streak of futility. This series is going to go the distance and while San Jose is likely to grab at least one game at home I like them to do one better and get a win here as they have looked great after a loss and I like that trend to continue.
