The Pittsburgh Penguins are a win away from hoisting the Stanley Cup for the first time since 2009 and they can do it at home tonight as they host the San Jose Sharks in game five.
The Sharks head into Pittsburgh for game five on Thursday night with their season and Cup aspirations on the line after only salvaging a single win at home during games three and four and are coming off a loss in game four that has all the momentum with the Penguins. San Jose was expected to do some damage in this series as they have a ton of size and physicality up front but their big five of Brent Burns, Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton, Joe Pavelski, and Logan Couture have just a single goal in the series and have been completely shut down by the Penguins in the offensive zone. San Jose will be in desperation mode here and will need to win three games in a row in order to fulfil their Stanley Cup quest. Martin Jones is expected to get the call here as he will go up against Matt Murray who is playing his way into the Conn Smythe conversation.

The Penguins meanwhile are flying high right now as they have managed three wins in four chances against the Sharks and can claim the Stanley Cup on home ice and give the fans something to cheer about as the last championship the team won in 2009 was in the confines of Joe Louis Arena. Pittsburgh has looked very good in this series as they are getting some clutch goals and the big stars are sharing the spotlight with some rookies and with all thongs considered they look poised to finish this off tonight. Pittsburgh are the favourites in this game and while there is some value in taking the road team that is in a do or die scenario but I think the Sharks are toast as the Pens have been too strong and with the home crowd on their side I like the Pens to put an end to this NHL season with a Cup title.
