Bridgestone Arena and the Nashville Predators open the season with a visit from the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Chicago Blackhawks opened the season on a down note in a 5-2 defeat at the United Center versus the St. Louis Blues. The Blackhawks held 1-0 and 2-1 leads but from the middle of the second through the third, the Blues were in control. St. Louis was led by Vladimir Tarasenko who scored twice and added an assist while Paul Stasny and Kevin Shattenkirk scored on the power play and Scottie Upshaw hit the empty net to make a winner of Jake Allen and his 17 stops. The Blackhawks scoring came off the sticks of Ryan Hartman and Richard Panik while Corey Crawford stopped 29 shots in defeat.

The objective for every NHL club is the playoffs and of course winning the Stanley Cup so the Nashville Predators 4-3 series loss to San Jose was especially painful. The Predators actually did well considering d they were 12th in scoring with 228 goals and 12th in 215 goals allowed. The Preds probably would improve their chances with a little more scoring punch with James Neal and Filip Forsberg being the duo that will be leaned on for scoring while newcomer PK Subban is sure to bring and offensive presence from the blue line. Colin Wilson has 20+ goal potential as well and help from a few others would be welcome. Goalie Pekka Rinne must improve on a.908 save percentage and that would help win a few more games and perhaps give Nashville a better seed in the postseason.
The over is 3-0-3 in Blackhawks last 6 vs. Central and is 3-0-3 in Blackhawks last 6 vs. Western Conference while going 14-4-9 in Blackhawks last 27 games playing on 1 days rest. The over is 4-0-3 in Predators last 7 vs. Western Conference and the under is 4-0-2 in Predators last 6 games playing on 3 or more days rest while the over is 4-0-3 in Predators last 7 overall. The over is 4-0-1 in the last 5 meetings in Nashville and the home team is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings while the over is 7-2-3 in the last 12 meetings.
No line is out but the home squad has had the upper hand in this match up and the over has hit more often then not. I’ll look at this in depth knowing the Blackhawks don’t want an 0-2 start…
