The Philadelphia Flyers and Arizona Coyotes play an NHL matchup late Saturday night at the Gila River Arena.
The Philadelphia Flyers play back-to-back road games after beating the Los Angeles Kings late Friday night. The Flyers exploded in the second half with four goals and really took advantage of the Kings not having Jonathan Quick in net. Sean Couturier led the way for Philadelphia with two goals, while Nick Cousins and Shayne Gostisbehere combined for three assists and four shots on goal. Goalie Michal Neuvirth also deserves some credit after coming away with 23 saves, and he’s now allowed two or less goals in seven of his last 10 regular season games. The Flyers would love to steal another road win before having to play the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday. The Philadelphia Flyers hopes for their first 2-0 start since the 2011-12 NHL season.

The Arizona Coyotes have not made the playoffs since the 2011-12 season, but some of the players think that could change this season. There’s no denying that Arizona has a nice young core led by Max Domi, Anthony Duclair and Dylan Strome. It simply comes down to when everything is going to click for the Arizona Coyotes. Additions of veteran players such as Jamie McGinn and Alex Goligoski will not only bring leadership but also take some of the pressure off all of the youth. In order for this to be a surprise season for the Coyotes, they need better goaltending after finishing 28th in the league last year. Mike Smith has allowed two or more goals in five of his last eight games. The Arizona Coyotes have split their last six regular season openers.
The Flyers are 3-5 in their last 8 road games and 6-20 in their last 26 vs. Pacific. The Coyotes are 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 1-4 in their last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest. The Flyers are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings in Arizona and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
I think the Arizona Coyotes have a chance to be a surprise team this season with all their youth quietly gaining experience and the added veterans. Arizona also finished the season strong at home and the players have been talking about this being a possible turning point season. The Flyers are also coming off a late finish Friday and now have to travel on top of that. I like the Flyers at home for the cheap price.
