The defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins battle the Colorado Avalanche in an NHL hockey battle Monday.
The Colorado Avalanche rode their offense to a wild 6-5 victory versus the Dallas Stars Saturday night. The Avalanche trailed 2-0 before five consecutive goals set the tone with Joe Colborne leading the attack with three tallies while Nathan MacKinnon, Carl Siderberg and Tyson Barrie lit the lamp to make a winner of Semyon Varlamov. The Stars appeared to be in good shape with the 2-0 lead before the roof caved in with Tyler Sequin scoring two times with Jamie Benn, Devin Shore and Brett Ritchie also finding the back of the net. Dallas gave starter Antti Niemi the hook in the second and replaced him with Kari Lehtonen but the damage had been done with Niemi already allowing five goals.

The Consol Energy Center fans were treated to a 3-2 victory versus the Anaheim Ducks with the Penguins defense putting the clamps on the Ducks. Conor Sheary, Ian Cole and Phil Kessel scored the winner with the man advantage to give the Penguins four consecutive wins on home ice dating back to last season. Pitt was outstanding in the nets with Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 33 shots to get the win while starter Matt Murray recovers from a broken hand. The Ducks received goals off the sticks of Corey Perry and Cam Fowler on the power play but Jonathan Bernier’s monster 42 save performance went in to the books as nothing more then a loss.
The over is 5-0 in Avalanche last 5 vs. a team with a winning record and the over is 3-0-1 in Avalanche last 4 vs. Eastern Conference while the over is 5-0 in Avalanche last 5 games playing on 1 days rest. Under is 3-0-1 in Penguins last 4 games playing on 1 days rest. The under is 2-0-2 in Penguins last 4 Monday games and the under is 4-0-1 in Penguins last 5 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game.
