The Ottawa Senators look to shake off an ugly effort on the road against the Red Wigs as they return home to face off with the Arizona Coyotes.
The Coyotes look to keep their fast start afloat as they head into Ottawa to battle a Senators side that dropped a 5-1 decision at Joe Louis Arena last night and will be on their heels playing in a back to back. The Coyotes have been an interesting team to watch so far and should be a group that is in the running for a potential wild card spot in the Western Conference this season as they have a nice balance of youth and veteran experience and a handful of guys who can score. However, the real strength of this team is on their blue line which is led by one of the game’s best in Oliver Ekmann-Larsson who is a real shut down guy and can chip in on the power play as well and in a game where he and Erik Karlsson going toe to toe it’ll be interesting to see which Swedish superstar will step up.

The Senators meanwhile were woeful last night in a game that suited them well as a road dog but they flopped and lost 5-1 and now return home to face off against a Coyotes team they don’t see very often and one that is coming off a season opening overtime win. Ottawa is one of the most divisive teams in the league as prognosticators really like them or really hate them in terms of their position in the Eastern Conference and while I am more towards the side that they will challenge for a playoff spot I am not sold on how they are playing right now as their two wins came in overtime and their one loss was dismal.
Arizona is 6-13 in their last 19 playing in two days rest and 2-5 in their last seven against the Atlantic while the Sens are 17-6 in their last 23 against the Pacific and 0-5 in their last five in the third game of a 3-4 set. The Sens always seem to have trouble at home against games they should win and this is a perfect example, especially in a back to back. I am taking a swing with the Coyotes in a game I don’t like very much.
