The St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks meet late Tuesday night in a NHL showdown at the Rogers Arena.
The St. Louis Blues are off to an impressive 3-0 start and now begin a three-game road trip in Canada. The Blues have been getting it done on both sides of the puck, but it's the defense that’s been most improves, as St. Louis is killing 90.9 percent of power plays and has allowed two or less goals in 11 of its last 13 regular season games. Jake Allen has allowed four goals on 40 shots faced while Carter Hutton has given up two goals on 35 shots. Offensively, Paul Stastny and Vladimir Tarasenko have combined for five goals and six assists while Alexander Steen has one goal and three assists. The St. Louis Blues have been arguably the most impressive team early in the NHL season. Kyle Brodziak and Jori Lehtera are questionable.

The Vancouver Canucks are also off to an undefeated start and will play their third straight home game. The Canucks have leaned on a defense that’s killing 75 percent of power plays and has allowed four goals in two games. Ryan Miller has not allowed a goal on 25 shots while Jacob Markstrom has given up three goals on 22 shots. The Canucks have now won six straight games when allowing three or less goals. Offensively, Brandon Sutter and Markus Granlund have combined for two goals and two assists, while Jannik Hansen has six shots on goal. The Vancouver Canucks look for a 3-0 start for the second time in the last three years.
The Blues are 20-7 in their last 27 road games and 1-4 in their last 5 vs. a team with a winning record. The Canucks are 2-7 in their last 9 games playing on 1 days rest and 4-0 in their last 4 home games. The Blues are 10-22-2 in the last 34 meetings in Vancouver and the under is 29-14-11 in the last 54 meetings.
Both teams are playing well out of the gate and the Canucks deserve a look as a home underdog. However, the Blues have won the last three games against the Canucks and have outscored them 11-3 in those meetings with the last two games being shutouts. It's hard not to back the Blues in this spot given the recent history, even if juice and a road team is always a little iffy.
