The Carolina Hurricanes take the ice at the Calgary Flames in Thursday night NHL hockey.
The Carolina Hurricanes will be shooting for a road win versus Calgary after their 3-2 loss at Edmonton in an NHL hockey bout on Tuesday where the offense had trouble scoring. The Hurricanes did receive a pair of goals from Lee Stempniak in the third period but that was not enough for Canes goalie Cam Ward who was charged with all three goals on 28 shots as Carolina dropped to 0-1-2 in the early going. The Oilers offense received goals from Jordan Eberle, Tyler Pitlick and Anton Slepyshek in support of Cam Talbot’s 31 save performance that lifted Edmonton to 3-1.

The Buffalo Sabres gave the Calgary Flames all they could handle before dropping a 4-3, overtime decision at the Flames in NHL hockey on Tuesday. Sean Monahan was the Flames offensive star the winner 2:26 in to overtime. Matthew Thachuk, Micheal Ferland and Michael Frolik also scored for Calgary with Chad Johnson recording 21 saves to lift his team to 1-2-1. The Sabres offense came off the sticks of Marcus Foligno, Ryan O’Reilly and Zemgus Girgensons but Robin Lehner’s 30 stops wasn’t enough to prevent Buffalo from falling to 1-1-1 although the Swords offense went through almost 18 minutes without a shot on goal.
The over is 4-0-2 in Hurricanes last 6 Thursday games and the over is 3-0-5 in Hurricanes last 8 vs. a team with a losing record while the Hurricanes are 0-5 in their last 5 overall.
