The Toronto Maple Leafs look to shake off a tough 5-4 loss in overtime last night as they continue their road trip in Minnesota against the Wild.
The Maple Leafs blew a four-goal lead on the road against the Winnipeg Jets last night and while they earned a single point this was one they had in the bag and will certainly be disheartening for a young group that has been decent so far this season. Things go from bad to worse though as they go from Winnipeg to Minnesota to take on a Wild team that has been scary good to start the season and always seems to find ways to win at home in what should be Jhonas Enroth’s debut for the blue and white. The Leafs will have to contend with Devan Dubnyk who has quietly become one of the best goalies in the league after settling into a nice situation in Minnesota and he he can stay sharp and use his massive frame to his advantage the Wild should be playoff bound again this season.

The Wild look for their third win in four tries to start the season as they welcome in the Leafs on short rest and should be dialed in for another big effort on home ice against a Toronto side that is still rebuilding. Minnesota was a playoff team a year ago and continue to possess a pretty well balanced roster and while they compete in the very tough Central division where it seems like five teams a year qualify for the playoffs they are just as likely as anyone to be one of the reps this season. Minnesota is coming off a victory and need to avoid a let down spot here against a Leafs side that will most certainly be frustrated with how things ended last night.
The Leafs are 0-4 in their last four against the Central and 16-51 in their last 67 road games while the Wild are 4-10 in their last 14 overall and have played to the OVER in five of their last seven overall. Toronto looked good for 40 minutes last night but then fell apart as is typical of some young teams but tonight I don’t see them doing it again as I think they’ll be behind early and often.
