The New York Rangers take to the road to face off with the Washington Capitals in an Eastern Conference show down on Saturday night.
The Rangers look for a statement victory in the early stages of the NHL season as they face off with the Capitals in DC in what should be their stiffest test to date. New York is 2-2 on the year and are coming off a loss but have a great roster that should propel them back into the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference again this season but will have to go through the Caps if they’re going to have any shot at winning the Metro division crown. The Blue Shirts are likely to turn to Henrik Lundqvist in this spot as he will match up against Braden Holtby in a great show down of Vezina caliber net minders and a show case of two of the best in the world in the crease.

The Capitals meanwhile have earned points in all four of their games so far, including three victories and will look for more on home ice tonight in a game where they are pretty heavily favoured considering their opponent and juncture in the season. The Caps offense is loaded and should have no issues scoring goals this season and have a blue line and goaltending battery that is among the best in the league and reigning Vezina winner Braden Holtby is already off to a strong start as he is 2-0-1 with a 1.63 goals against average and should be ready to go here against the Rangers.
New York is 2-5 in their last seven overall and 3-9 in their last 12 against the Metro while the Caps are 4-1 in their last five Saturday games and 40-15 in their last 55 home games. This is really early in the season but one thing we can be sure if is that the Caps are going to be a tough out at home and taking them in regulation seems to be the best bet here.
