The Tampa Bay Lightning look to continue their hot start to the season as they face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the ACC on Monday night.
The Lightning are coming off a clinical victory on the road against the Ottawa Senators and will be out to complete the Ontario sweep here as they get the Leafs at the ACC who are coming off yet another third period collapse, this time against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Bolts are expected to be a Stanley Cup threat in most circles and a lot of people have them as the team to beat in the Eastern Conference as they have a ton of offense, a great blue line, and a goaltending tandem rivaled by very few in the NHL. Tampa are only slight favourites here on the road as the Leafs have been competitive in all of their games but have had some major issues closing games out and against a Lightning team that can beat anybody the Leafs need a hot start.

Toronto can’t seem to find ways to win hockey games which is a staple of a young group like this one, and while wins and losses are the only thing that count it is encouraging that the Buds are staying afloat and looking years ahead of their rebuild at times. However, Toronto needs to shore up in the defensive zone as they are leaving Frederik Andersen out to dry on a nightly basis and while it may cost them an arm and a leg I think they should start seriously thinking about bringing in Jacob Trouba who is holding out of Winnipeg until he can be moved. Toronto is expected to start Andersen here who will face off against Ben Bishop.
The Lightning are 5-0 in their last five against the Atlantic and 4-1 in their last five overall while the Leafs are 41-97 in their last 138 overall and 1-4 in their last five home games. Tampa is the better team here and with Stamkos playing in his home town I think he and the offense have a great day against the Buds’ woeful back end.
