The Boston Bruins look to rebound after getting waxed at home by the Minnesota Wild last night as they take to the road to face off with the New York Rangers.
The Bruins were dealt a dose of reality against a very good Minnesota team last night that is putting an end to the notion that they can’t play on the road and now they have to travel to Madison Square Garden to take on a Rangers side that has dominated the Atlantic of late. Boston turned to Malcolm Subban in goal last night and the move didn’t pay off as the rookie was pasted by the Minnesota attack, but now they will go back to Tuukka Rask who is expected to go head to head with Henrik Lundqvist who will back stop a Rangers team that is coming off a day of rest. The B’s know they need to get their offense rolling as the likes of Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand have been quiet, and they are going to have to make a push in the oppositions third as they don’t have the defense core they once did.

The Rangers meanwhile continue to be one of the better teams in the Metropolitan division and should be in the running for the playoffs again this season as they have one of the deeper rosters in the league. New York always seems to elevate their game at home and with the Bruins coming off a tough loss last night the Blue Shirts can catch them with tired legs in a game that figures to be a defensive battle.
The Bruins are 1-4 in their last five games of a back to back and 3-7 in their last 10 against a team with a winning record while the Rangers are 9-3 in their last 12 against the Atlantic and 2-5 in their last seven against a team with a winning record. The Bruins looked gassed last night and while that may have been a trap game as this is certainly a look ahead I don’t see how they can respond in a positive manner. However, I think the better play is the on the under as Rask should be back and in a back to back I think the Bruins will try and stay defensive.
