The Arizona Coyotes and Philadelphia Flyers meet Thursday night in a NHL matchup at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Arizona Coyotes are desperate for a big road win that would snap a rough five-game losing streak. The Coyotes are averaging 2.8 goals per game and are scoring on 14.3 percent of their power play opportunities. Oliver Ekman-Larsson leads Arizona with four goals, Alex Goligoski has four assists and Radim Vrbata has 17 shots on goal. Defensively, the Arizona Coyotes are allowing 4.3 goals per game and are killing 72.2 percent of their opponents power plays. Louis Domingue has given up 13 goals on 87 shots faced and Mike Smith has allowed six goals on 60 shots. The Arizona Coyotes have some serious defensive issues, as they’ve allowed three or more goals in 10 of their last 11 regular season games.

The Philadelphia Flyers could also use a nice victory to shake off a rocky 3-3-1 start to the NHL season. The Flyers are averaging 3.3 goals per game and are scoring on 26.9 percent of their power play opportunities. Matt Read leads Philadelphia with five goals, Jakub Voracek has five assists and Wayne Simmonds has 20 shots on goal. Defensively, the Philadelphia Flyers are allowing 3.6 goals per game and are killing 73.1 percent of their opponents power plays. Steve Mason has given up 14 goals on 142 shots faced and Michal Neuvirth has allowed nine goals on 58 shots. Six of the Philadelphia Flyers last eight regular season victories have come on their home ice.
The Coyotes are 27-55 in their last 82 games playing on 1 days rest and 0-4 in their last 4 vs. a team with a losing record. The Flyers are 14-6 in their last 20 games playing on 1 days rest and 1-4 in their last 5 Thursday games. The home team is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings and the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
This price is a tad bit too steep for my taste. Instead, I'm siding with the over. The Coyotes can't prevent other teams from finding the back of the net at all and the last three games between the Flyers and Arizona have combined for 16 goals. Not to mention the over is 5-1 in the last six games between the Coyotes and Flyers. Give me the over.
