The Nashville Predators look to shake off a tough loss against the Maple Leafs as they head into the Canadian Tire Centre to take on the Ottawa Senators.
The Predators are off to a sluggish start this season and haven’t looked like the playoff team many people anticipated in the preseason and while there is plenty of time to turn it around it just seems like something is off about this group right now. Nashville has a ton of weapons on the blue line as they are one of the deepest defensive groups in the game and they have a world class goaltender in Pekka Rinne but the issue remains their offensive depth as they don’t score a ton of goals and are going to have to rectify that during the year. The team did trade their top end draft pick in Seth Jones for forward Ryan Johansen last season but so far he hasn’t bee able to carry the offensive load and as such the team hasn’t been able to string wins together.

The Senators meanwhile are off to a pretty strong start and could very well find themselves back in the playoff picture this season as they have a deep offensive group and some great veteran leadership. Ottawa’s strength lies in their special teams though as their power play rivals the best in the game when they are clicking and Erik Karlsson remains one of the best overall players in the world and with his guidance the Sens should be able to make a serious playoff push. Ottawa will send Craig Anderson to the crease as he will likely face off against Nashville’s backup in Juuse Saros.
The Preds are 5-2 in their last seven against the Atlantic and 5-18 in their last 23 road games while the Sens are 7-3 in their last 10 home games and 7-3 in their last 10 against the West. Nashville is slumping and the Sens are strong at home so they are the play here.
