Aaron Ekblad tallied the winner in the extra session with Denis Malgin, Kyle Rau and Alex Petrovic also lighting the lamp while Roberto Luongo stopped 34 shots to lift the Panthers to 8-7-1. The Canadiens scoring came from Max Pacioretty, Desharnais and Paul Byron while Price recorded 20 saves as red hot Montreal is still an impressive 13-2-2.

The Toronto Maple Leafs broke out their offense in a 6-2 rout of the visiting Nashville Predators on Tuesday night. The Maple Leafs have James van Riemsdyk to thank as he ended a nine game scoreless streak with his second career hat trick, with Mitch Marmer, William Nylander and Leo Komarov also scoring while Tyler Bozak recorded four assists to help Frederik Anderson get the win with a 32 stop performance. The Predators offense received goals from Viktor Arvidsson and James Neal which was not nearly enough with Marek Mazanec struggling between the pipes with all six goals allowed on 32 shots that dropped him to 0-2-0 on the season.
The over is 4-0-1 in Panthers last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and the Panthers are 1-5 in their last 6 games following a win while the Panthers are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference. The over is 4-0 in Maple Leafs last 4 home games and the Maple Leafs are 0-4 in their last 4 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game while the Maple Leafs are 5-1 in their last 6 home games. The Panthers are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Toronto and the road team is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings while the over is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings.
The trends favor the Panthers and perhaps the over although the Maple Leafs don’t look like doormats. Please check back when lines and goalies are announced…
