NHL hockey comes to the Bell Centre when the Ottawa Senators visit the Montreal Canadiens.
The Ottawa Senators have been struggling at the offensive end of the ice and that trend continued in a 4-1 defeat to visiting Florida on Saturday. On the flip side, the Panthers offense looked just fine with Jonathan Marchessault, Jussi Jokinen, Derek MacKenzie and Jaromir Jagr each scoring while Jagr added a pair of helpers. Roberto Luongo was strong between the pipes with a 39 save performance to pick up the victory. The Senators lone tally came off the stick of Jean-Gabriel Pageau while Craig Anderson and his 19 saves weren’t enough to keep Ottawa from dropping consecutive contests. The Sens offense continued to fade with 13 goals in their past nine games.

In any sport, it seems that some teams have some kind of invisible magic over another and simply beat them. For the Montreal Canadiens that team is the Maple Leafs who the Habs have beaten in 12 straight following Saturday’s 2-1 victory. Alex Galchenyuk and Paul Byron each found the back of the net with Alexander Radulov returning from illness to post an assist on each goal. Carey Price was fantastic with 31 saves as the Canadiens snapped a three game skid. The Maple Leafs lone tally came from William Nylander while Frederik Andersen absorbed the loss with 25 stops as Toronto saw their record fall to 8-7-3.
The under is 4-0 in Senators last 4 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and the under is 4-0 in Senators last 4 road games while the under is 4-0 in Senators last 4 Tuesday games. The under is 1-0-3 in Canadiens last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and the over is 1-0-3 in Canadiens last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game while the under is 2-0-2 in Canadiens last 4 games playing on 2 days rest. The under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and the over is 6-2-2 in the last 10 meetings in Montreal.
The trends are mixed but right now I lean Montreal as they want to string some wins together. Please check back when goalies and lines are released…
