The Pacific leading Edmonton Oilers face the Colorado Avalanche in an NHL hockey battle on Wednesday.
After ending a five game slide, the Edmonton Oilers have won back to back contests after downing the visiting Blackhawks 5-0 on Monday. The question is whether the team keeps winning after the Oilers upped their record to 11-8-1.The Oilers received a pair of goals from Leon Draisaitl with Andrej Sekera, Oscar Klefbom and Anton Slepyshev also lighting the lamp while Connor McDavid posted two helpers. Cam Talbot was outstanding between the pipes for Edmonton with a 31 save performance for his third shutout of the year. The Blackhawks were shooting for their third straight win but goalie Corey Crawford was on his own with 22 stops not being enough.

The Columbus Blue Jackets had won four in a row but as we know, you can’t win them all which they learned in a 3-2, overtime loss to the visiting Avalanche. The Blue Jackets never led but did get a pair of goals from Cam Atkinson who scored with just under seven seconds remaining in regulation to breath new life in to Columbus which turned out to be short lived. Tyson Barrie and Erik Johnson scored in regulation for the Avs before Matt Duchene lit the lamp just 1:49 in to overtime in his first game back since suffering a concussion almost two weeks ago. Curtis McElhinney made 24 saves while absorbing the loss with a 40 save performance by Semyon Varlamov was a winner.
The Oilers are 6-0 in their last 6 Wednesday games and the over is 3-0-1 in Oilers last 4 road games while the under is 7-1 in Oilers last 8 games following a win. The Avalanche are 7-0 in their last 7 Wednesday games and the under is 2-0-2 in Avalanche last 4 vs. Western Conference while the under is 5-0-1 in Avalanche last 6 vs. a team with a winning record. The under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Colorado and the Oilers are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings while the under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
