The Columbus blue Jackets look to continue their strong start to the season as they face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night.
The Lightning look for a big road win against a surprising Columbus side that has taken the league by storm and they will have to do so without Steven Stamkos who remains out of the lineup with a leg injury. Tampa Bay was expected to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference this season and were Cup favourites in some circles and while they have had success without Stamkos in the lineup in the past they are certainly a better team with him and will struggle offensively moving forward. Tampa is expected to send Andrei Vasilevskiy to the crease here as he splits time with Ben Bishop while the Jackets will counter with Sergei Bobrovsky who has been excellent so far this season.

The Blue Jackets were the talk of the league heading into last season but a very slow start derailed any thoughts of a playoff spot but this season they are starting to overachieve as many had them pegged for another top five draft pick but have looked very good to date. The Jackets have never been short on talent but could never really piece things together and right now they are looking like a group capable of going on a tear as their goaltender has been among the league’s best so far and are getting a well balanced attack led by a handful of different guys.
The Bolts are 6-1 in their last seven against the Metro and 4-0 in their last four Tuesday games while the Jackets are 4-1 in their last five against the East and 5-1 in their last six when scoring two goals or less in their previous outing. Tampa to me is the better team but Columbus is playing the better hockey and while I am still not sold they are worth a look at home here.
