The Detroit Red Wings look to continue their dominance over teams with a losing record as they welcome the Florida Panthers to town on Thursday.
The Panthers look to shake off their slow start to the season and they will do it with new personnel behind the bench after they fired Gerard Gallant earlier this week and that should light a fire under the Cats who were expected to be in the mix for a division crown this season. Florida has the talent to finish atop the Atlantic division and heading into the Joe to face off against one of their Atlantic rivals is a great chance for them to make a statement and they will do so with Roberto Luongo in the crease who will square off against Petr Mrazek.

The Wings meanwhile have cooled off after a surprisingly hot start and will look to snap out of their ugly losing ways against division foes as they have dropped five of their last six against the Atlantic. The Wings have been the model of consistency over the years, not only in the NHL but in all of professional sports as they have qualified for the playoffs for the last 25 years and while it will actually have to happen for any of us to imagine a postseason without Detroit in it I think we are as close as ever to seeing it as this is not a very deep group and compete in a tough division.
The Cats are 4-9 in their last 13 road games and 1-4 in their last five Thursday games while the Wings are 7-3 in their last 10 games following a win and 2-7 in their last nine home games. With Luongo and Mrazek getting the start I think this will be a tightly contested game that comes in under the number
