The Montreal Canadiens look to build on their big road win in Winnipeg last night as they continue their road trip against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.

The Canadiens broke out offensively in a big way last night as they hung seven goals on the Winnipeg Jets and they will look for an encore against the Wild in a big show down between two of the best teams in the league on Thursday night. Montreal had struggled in the offensive zone this season but had one of their best outings of the season last night at the MTS Center in Winnipeg and while they conceded four goals with backup Al Montoya in net they got the win after losing their last outing to the Washington Capitals at home. The Habs are expected to have Carey Price back in the cage for this one as he will go up against Devan Dubnyk who is having a remarkable season in the Minnesota crease and should be in the mix for the Vezina Trophy this season as the league’s top goaltender.

Minnesota Wild vs. Montreal Canadiens - 1/12/17 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Wild have quietly pieced together a very impressive start to the season as they are 25-9-5 through their first 39 games and while they are four points back of the Blackhawks for top spot in the Central, they have five games in hand on their division rivals and are in the driver’s seat right now to claim top spot. Minnesota has been knocking on the door for years but have never been able to kick it in but much like the Sharks did last season by finally getting the monkey off their backs and winning the Western Conference, the Wild are in position to do the same this season. Minnesota is 13-4 at home this season while the Canadiens are 11-6-4 on the road so this should be a very exciting game between two Stanley Cup hopefuls.

The Habs are 9-1 in their last 10 Thursday games and 4-1 in their last five road games while the Wild are 8-1 in their last nine home games and 8-1 in their last nine against the Eastern Conference. Montreal is playing in a back to back and are in a three in four nights set while Minnesota has been dominant at home of late and I think they keep it going again here.
