The San Jose Sharks look for their first win of the season as they host their archrvials in the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night.
The Kings look to stay undefeated after they took down the Flyers in their first game of the season and they are slated to turn to Jonathan Quick once again who earned the shutout in his first start and will face off against his former backup in Martin Jones in this one. Los Angeles has alternated Cup runs with disappointment and this looks like a potential spot for the Kings to get right back in the mix in the Western Conference race this season as they still have a nice core of guys up front, a very serviceable blue line led by Drew Doughty, and a goaltender in Quick who is back in full health and is hoping to get an entire season in after an injury plagued campaign a season ago.

The Sharks meanwhile have undergone some changes as long time forward and former captain Patrick Marleau is no longer with the team as they have moved fully into the idea that this is Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture’s team with Joe Thornton now is a supportive role. San Jose was a playoff team a season ago but fell in the first round to the upstart Edmonton Oilers and this season they are projected by some to take a major step backwards as they are in a tough Pacific division filled with some of the league’s best talent.
The Kings are 11-4 in their last 15 Saturday games and 3-11 in their last 14 following a win while the Sharks are 1-4 in their last five against the Pacific and 1-4 in their last five Saturday games. The Kings seem to step up when the lights are brightest and while this is early in the season it is still a rivalry game and at this price I think the Kings are worth the play.
