Edmonton Oilers vs. Winnipeg Jets - 10/9/17 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Winnipeg Jets (0-2-0) at Edmonton Oilers (1-1-0)

NHL Hockey: Monday, October 9, 2017 at 9:00 pm (Rogers Place)

The Line: Edmonton Oilers -196 / Winnipeg Jets +140 --- Over/Under: 5.5 See the Latest Odds

The Edmonton Oilers look to shake off their loss in Vancouver on Saturday as they return home to host the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night.

The Jets look for their first win of the season and fix their hideous defensive play in the process as they have been lit up in their first few games this season and the offseason concerns regarding their goaltending is rearing its ugly head at the moment. Winnipeg does have a very talented roster, especially in the offensive end as guys like Blake Wheeler, Mark Schiefele, and Patrik Laine but so far their offensive prowess hasn’t mattered as their defense has let up an absurd amount of goals through just two games and against an Oilers team that has perhaps the best player in the NHL in Connor McDavid it doesn’t bode too well, especially with this one being on the road in front of some of the league’s best fans.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Winnipeg Jets - 10/9/17 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Oilers put on a show in their season opener against their archrivals from Calgary as they blanked the Flames by a 3-0 score line but a loss on Saturday night in Vancouver has them 1-1 and looking to get back in the win column against the Jets. Edmonton has very high expectations this season after their run to the second round of the playoffs a season ago and with someone as dynamic as McDavid leading the way they are very much a team that can win on any given night and in this spot against a Jets team that is looking very suspect it is no wonder the line is so chalky on the home side who will be out to find their scoring touch against the Jets.

The Jets are 7-2 in their last nine overall and 6-21 in their last 27 Monday games while the Oilers are 4-0 in their last four Monday games and 13-3 in their last 16 home games. Edmonton always elevates their play at home and this one figures to be a great spot for them to bounce back.
