The Line: New York Islanders -120 / St. Louis Blues -102 --- Over/Under: 5.5 See the Latest Odds

The St. Louis Blues look to stay undefeated as they head into Brooklyn to face off with the New York Islanders on Monday night.

The Blues have looked the part of a contender in the Western Conference through their first two contests and they can make it a perfect 3-for-3 with a road win in Brooklyn at the Barclay’s Center against the Islanders on Monday. The Blues have been a contender in the Central division over the last handful of seasons but they have yet to breakthrough and some saw last year as their final opportunity to stay in the ranks of the league’s elite, but so far they are looking like a group still capable of a playoff run and a win here would continue that thought for at least another night. Jake Allen is expected to get the start as he will face off against Thomas Greiss in a matchup that favours the Blues as Greiss has looked a bit suspect so far.

The Islanders meanwhile recovered from an ugly opening night loss with a victory in their last outing but still remain a team of mystery as they are talented but never seem to be able to break through as a threat in the Metro division. New York is of course led by John Tavares and he remains one of the league’s top players but his supporting cast hasn’t quite been good enough to have them break through as a Cup threat and unless one of their young prospects can join the fray as a point producer they may be one of those teams on the cusp of stardom but never being able to reach the league’s pinnacle.

The Blues are 4-0 in their last four against the Metro and 4-1 in their last five games on Monday while the Isles are 7-1 in their last eight overall and 1-4 in their last five against the Central. St. Louis to me is the better team here and while the price isn’t great as a road dog it is still worth the value as I see St. Louis getting the victory here.
