The Dallas Stars look for their first win of the season as they host the undefeated Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night.
The Red Wings look for their third straight victory to open the season as they head into Frisco to battle the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night and with a win they can continue their recent dominance against the Central division as they are currently 4-1 in their last five. Detroit came into the season unveiling a brand new arena after they moved on from the iconic Joe Louis Arena after last season and so far it seems the new digs have served as motivation for the team on the ice as they have won back to back games and look like they could jump right back into the playoff picture after missing out last season for the first time in 22 years. Detroit is expected to send Jimmy Howard to the crease here as he will face off against Ben Bishop in a show down of two respectable goaltenders who have enjoyed nice careers so far.

The Stars meanwhile have come out flat and have lost their only two games this season but a home date against a Wings side playing their second straight on the road could be the show case for them to get their first win of the year. Dallas is loaded in the offensive zone led by Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin but some of their top end support pieces have moved on and finding replacements will be a challenge for the Stars who rely heavily on the production from their top line. The Stars back end also needs a bit of a shot in the arm as they have been eaten up thus far and against a Wings side that seems to be playing with some confidence they could be in for a long evening if they can’t find their stride.
The Wings are 4-1 in their last five against the Central and 4-0 in their last four against the West while the Stars are 2-8 in their last 10 on two day’s rest and winless in their last four against the Atlantic. The Stars are favoured here and while they haven’t shown a lot for us to believe in yet I do think they get it done at home and send Detroit to their first loss.
