The Las Vegas Golden Knights look to stay undefeated as they play in what should be an emotional home opener when the Arizona Coyotes come to town on Tuesday night.
The Coyotes look to move above the .500 mark after their first three games with a road win in Vegas on Tuesday night in what should be a very emotional atmosphere as the Knights play in their franchise’s first home game and first at home since the shooting incident last week. Arizona is a team that has become synonymous with losing over the last few seasons and this season should be another tough one as they don’t have the best looking roster on paper or on the ice and while they do have some great young players that should help them moving forward I still think they are a season or two away from getting back to relevance. Antti Raanta is expected to get the start in the Arizona crease as he will face off against Marc-Andre Fleury who has been excellent so far this season.

The Golden Knights meanwhile kick things off in their first home game of the season and they should be able to put on a show in a market that expects glitz and glam on a nightly basis. Las Vegas has surprised through their first two games this season and a large part of their success is attributed to their two biggest pieces from the expansion draft and two names that are often affiliated with success and that is James Neal and Fleury. The Knights’ forward has been brilliant through two games as he has both game winning goals and looks like a rejuvenated talent after a stint in Nashville and Fleury looks like his old self as he was deemed expendable by the defending Cup champions as they are now sticking with Matt Murray. Las Vegas is a slight favourite here but the line is tight and could very well change if the goaltending matchup switches on us.
The Coyotes are 17-35 in their last 52 Tuesday games and 1-4 in their last five overall while the Knights don’t have any meaningful stats quite yet aside from their 2-0 record. This is going to be an emotional yet electric evening and aside from all of the external circumstances I think the Knights are the better team and get it done at home.
