The NHL comes to the United Center when the Chicago Blackhawks host the Minnesota Wild.
The Minnesota Wild head to the Windy City on Thursday looking for their first win of the season. Minnesota had their chances at the Carolina Hurricanes but came up short in a 5-4 defeat in a shootout where the team held a 3-1 lead midway through the second period.

The Wild received goals from Jason Zucker on the power play with Chris Stewart, Eric Staal and Mikko Koivu also lighting the lamp while Zucker and Staal posted assists as well. Jacob Slavin tallied the only goal in the shootout to get the win for Carolina who also saw scoring from Joakim Nordstrom, Derek Ryan, Noah Hanflin and Victor Rask with Sebastian Aho and Elias Lindholm adding two third period assists each.
Minnesota goalie Alex Stalock faced a lot of rubber with four goals allowed on 42 shots in his first start of the young season. Scott Darling picked up the win for the Hurricanes but he was charged with all four goals on 27 shots as his defense kept shots to a reasonable amount.
The Chicago Blackhawks already have four games under their belt and have yet to lose in regulation. Chicago won their game with a 3-1 victory at the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. The Blackhawks have been clicking at both ends of the ice and that trend continued.
Rookie Alex DeBrincat scored his first career goal with Artem Anisimov and Brandon Saad also finding the scoring column. Tomas Piekanec scored the lone goal for Montreal in the first for a short lived 1-0 lead but the Habs couldn’t generate any more offense. Carey Price absorbed the loss for the Canadiens with 22 stops while Corey Crawford recorded 41 saves.
Over is 6-1-1 in Wild last 8 games playing on 3 or more days rest and Wild are 1-6 in their last 7 overall and Wild are 1-6 in their last 7 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. Blackhawks are 0-7 in their last 7 vs. Western Conference and Blackhawks are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Central and over is 6-0-1 in Blackhawks last 7 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game. Over is 4-0-3 in the last 7 meetings and Wild are 5-13 in the last 18 meetings in Chicago.
It’s tough to go against the Blackhawks who have opened the season in top gear. I’ll back them here and will update when all goalies are confirmed…
