The Florida Panthers go on the road to the New Jersey Devils in Monday night NHL action.

The Florida Panthers hope to begin a winning streak when the team visits the New Jersey Devils on Monday. Florida has dropped three of four following a 4-1 loss to the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night where the offense stalled and the defense followed suit. Jared McCann was the lone bright spot for the Panthers with his second period goal. Roberto Luongo absorbed the loss for the Panthers with four goals allowed n 39 shots.

USA TODAY Sports

The Blackhawks scored two times in the first and twice in the second with the defense making the lead hold up. The balanced Chicago offense received goals off the sticks of Jonathan Toews, Brandon Saad, John Hayden and Patrick Kane. Toews gave the Blackhawks a pair of helpers and Corey Crawford stood tall in the nets with 37 saves.

The New Jersey Devils have been playing well the past week with wins in three of four after a 4-3, overtime victory at the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night. New Jersey needed a big effort from their defense to survive the Red Wings and just got enough. Detroit received a pair of goals from David Booth with Anthony Mantha also lighting the lamp. Petr Mrazek stopped 21 shots before getting hurt in the third with Jimmy Howard coming in to absorb the loss for the Wings with a goal allowed on eight shots.

New Jersey surrendered a 3-1 lead in the third period but Brian Gibbons saved the day with his tally 2:32 in to the extra session. Brian Boyle, Nico Nischier and Taylor Hall scored in regulation for the Devils while Hall added a helper for five points in his last two contests. Keith Kinkaid recorded 31 saves for New Jersey to up his record to 5-1-1.

Under is 4-0 in Panthers last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and under is 6-0 in Panthers last 6 road games and under is 4-0 in Panthers last 4 vs. Eastern Conference. Under is 5-0 in Devils last 5 home games and over is 5-1 in Devils last 6 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and
Devils are 7-2 in their last 9 vs. Atlantic. Panthers are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and home team is 17-5 in the last 22 meetings and under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings.

Taking the Panthers probably isn’t popular but I believe both are about even and there is no sense in laying chalk…
