The Barclays Center and the New York Islanders host the Ottawa Senators in Friday night NHL action.
The Ottawa Senators have struggled through the majority of the early going and need a quick reversal of fortune to right the ship. Ottawa is mired in a two week slump that has seen the teal lose seven in a row where the offense has scored a grand total of nine goals. The Senators come in off of a 2-1 road loss at the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday. The game started out well with an unassisted tally off the stick of Mark Stone at 4:36 of the first giving Ottawa a 1-0 lead.

The lead held up until early in the second when Jonathan Drouin lit the lamp at the 2:56 on an unassisted marker for the Canadiens. Montreal doubled the lead at 5:14 on a goal off the stick of Nate Thompson on assists from Andrew Shaw and Max Pacioretty. Carey Price helped the Habs to their third straight win with 27 stops while Mike Condon absorbed the loss with a 29 save effort.
The surging New York Islanders are playing their best hockey of the season with wins in seven of eight with the offense racking up 32 goals in this span after a 5-2 decision over the visiting Vancover Canucks. The Canucks received scoring from Bo Horvat and Thomas Vanek while Anders Nilsson allowed all five goals on 36 shots.
The balanced New York attack featured goals from Calvin de Haan, Andrew Ladd, Jordan Ebele, Andres Lee and John Tavares. Adam Pelich gave the Islanders a pair of assists while Jaroslav Halak recorded 23 stops to help New York to wins in seven of eight.
Over is 4-0-2 in Senators last 6 Friday games and Senators are 0-6 in their last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and Senators are 0-4 in their last 4 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. Islanders are 4-0 in their last 4 overall and Islanders are 5-0 in their last 5 vs. Atlantic and over is 7-0 in Islanders last 7 vs. a team with a winning % below .400. Under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings.
The Islanders don’t usually win when I back them but they are just scoring at will right now…
