West coast NHL action features a bout between the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers.
The Edmonton Oilers hope for a little surge when the team goes on the road to take the ice with the Calgary Flames. Edmonton will be looking to bounce back from a 6-4 defeat at the hands of the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night. Edmonton wouldn’t go away until late with a balanced offense getting goals from Mark Letestu, Kris Russell, Connor McDavid and Zack Kassian. Letestu also logged two assists while Laurent Brossoit gave up five goals on 35 shots to absorb the loss.

The Maple Leafs offense was balanced as well with six different players reaching the scoring column. Auston Matthews, Dominic Moore, Matt Martin, William Nylander, Patrick Marleau and Nazem Kadri each scored for the Leafs with Nylander assisting twice. Frederik Andersen stopped 30 shots to keep Toronto hot and improve to 15-7-1.
The Calgary Flames look to start a winning streak when the Edmonton Oilers visit the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday night. Calgary has won two of three after upending the Arizona Coyotes 3-0 on Thursday behind plenty of scoring and an airtight defense. The Coyotes put plenty of rubber on the Oilers net with 28 shots but in the end goalie Scott Wedgewood gave up all three goals on 41 shots to absorb the loss.
The Flames received all the scoring they would need when Mark Jankowski score at 2:48 of the second period. Mikael Backlund doubled the lead at 19:19 of the third before Jankowski adding his second less then two minutes later. Sam Bennett added a pair of assists for Calgary while former Arizona goalie Mike Smith turned away 28 shots.
Over is 4-1 in Oilers last 5 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 4-1 in Oilers last 5 Saturday games and under is 4-1 in Oilers last 5 vs. Pacific. Under is 2-0-2 in Flames last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and Flames are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and under is 5-1 in Flames last 6 overall. Over is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings in Calgary and Oilers are 5-0 in the last 5 meetings and Oilers are 7-15 in the last 22 meetings in Calgary.
Offense has been the name of the game when these teams meet so I’ll lean over pending goalies…
