NHL action comes to the Wells Fargo Center where the Philadelphia Flyers host the Boston Bruins.

The Boston Bruins have been playing their best hockey of the season with wins in five of six. Boston comes off of a 3-2 victory versus the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday. The Bruins held a 3-0 lead by early in the second before narrowly holding on versus the top team in the game. Boston opened the scoring with Charlie McAvoy scoring at 7:27 of the first before Riley Nash doubled the lead with his marker with 2:47 remaining in the period.

Torey Krug gave Boston a 3-0 advantage at just under six minutes in the second for the eventual game winner.  Brad Marchand added two helpers to make a winner of Tuukka Rask and his 19 stops to keep the Bruins hot. Tampa Bay received scoring from Andrej Sustr and Steven Stamkos on a third period power play while Andrei Vasilevskiy recorded 33 saves in defeat.

The Philadelphia Flyers haven’t been able to buy win for nearly three weeks with the team losing nine in a row including four in overtime and one via shootout. Philadelphia comes off of a 3-1 loss to the visiting San Jose Sharks on Tuesday where the offense stalled. Philadelphia’s inability to maintain a lad reared it’s head once again as Claude Giroux scored just 48 seconds in but that was the offensive highlight. Philly goalie Michal Neuwirth gave up all three goals as the slumping Flyers have now dropped nine in a row.

The Sharks rebounded from a surprisingly quick deficit with Chris Tierney lighting the lamp at 10: 29 of the first while Joe Thornton tallied the game winner with 78 seconds left in the period. Marc-Eduard Vlasic provided insurance for the Sharks with a second period goal with just under four minutes remaining. Aaron Dell picked up the win with a 22 save performance that upped his record to 3-3-1

Under is 4-0 in Bruins last 4 Saturday games and Bruins are 7-1 in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400 and Bruins are 6-1 in their last 7 games playing on 2 days rest. Flyers are 0-5 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 6-0 in Flyers last 6 vs. a team with a losing record and Flyers are 0-5 in their last 5 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Under is 2-0-2 in the last 4 meetings in Philadelphia and home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and Bruins are 20-7 in the last 27 meetings.

Philadelphia won’t continue to lose but I’ll back the hot Bruins who have had success in this matchup…
