The Line: Vancouver Canucks +120 / Toronto Maple Leafs -133 --- Over/Under: 5.5 See the Latest Odds

The Vancouver Canucks welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Rogers Centre in Saturday NHL action.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are jumping up the NHL power rankings with wins in nine of eleven where both ends of the ice are contributing. Toronto turned to their offense on Thursday in a 6-4 victory at the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton wouldn’t go away until late with a balanced offense getting goals from Mark Letestu, Kris Russell, Connor McDavid and Zack Kassian. Letestu also logged two assists while Laurent Brossoit gave up five goals on 35 shots to absorb the loss.

The Maple Leafs offense was balanced as well with six different players reaching the scoring column. Auston Matthews, Dominic Moore, Matt Martin, William Nylander, Patrick Marleau and Nazem Kadri each scored for the Leafs with Nylander assisting twice. Frderik Andersen stopped 30 shots to keep Toronto hot and improve to 15-7-1.

The Vancouver Canucks return home Saturday following a grueling six game road trip. Vancouver completed the trip with a 3-3 mark after pounding the surging Nashville Predators 6-3 on Thursday night. Nashville saw scoring from Craig Smith, Filip Forsberg and Nick Bonino but that wasn’t enough with Pekka Rinne allowing four goals on 32 shots.

The Vancouver attack saw rookie Brock Boeser and Loui Eriksson each scored twice with Daniel Sedin adding a third period power play goal for his 1,000th career point. Henrik Sedin added three assists to make a winner of Anders Nilsson and his 29 stops.

Over is 9-1-2 in Maple Leafs last 12 Saturday games and Maple Leafs are 5-1 in their last 6 road games and Maple Leafs are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Western Conference. Over is 7-1 in Canucks last 8 overall and Canucks are 4-22 in their last 26 home games and Canucks are 1-5 in their last 6 games following a win. Home team is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings and Maple Leafs are 1-8 in the last 9 meetings in Vancouver and Maple Leafs are 5-13 in the last 18 meetings.

I’m tempted to go with the Canucks in their first game back from a long trip but I need to see goalies…
