The Detroit Red Wings look to snap their ugly seven game losing skid as they welcome the Winnipeg Jets to town on Tuesday evening.
The Winnipeg Jets look to stay red hot and take their 10th games in their last 13 tries as they head into Little Caesar’s Arena in downtown Detroit to face off against the Red Wings who are in the midst of a terrible losing skid that has reached seven games overall and five straight at home. The Jets have become one of the hot trendy teams in the Western Conference as they are looking like a Cup contender at the moment with a very strong, well balanced offense, a solid blue line, and a goaltender in Connor Hellebuyck who has broken out in a big way and appears to have finally solved the goaltending troubles that have plagued the Jets since their return. The Jets are expected to turn to their young goaltender in this one as he will face off against Jimmy Howard who has had mixed results so far this season and will need to be sharp here to keep the Jets offense at bay.

The Red Wings head into tonight’s contest sitting two games under the .500 mark and have disappointed in the wide open Atlantic division and after more than two decades of playoff hockey it looks like the Wings could be on the verge of starting a different trend as they don’t look like a group capable of going on a run this season. Detroit certainly has some play makers and always seem to give teams their best when playing at home but this is a Jets side that has been winning at a torrid pace both at home and on the road and while it is very tough to lose eight games in a row in this league it looks more then possible here as the Jets are a better team than the Wings.
The Jets are 5-1 in their last six Tuesday games and 9-3 in their last 12 overall while the Wings are 8-23 in their last 31 Tuesday games and 8-21 in their last 29 following a loss of three or more. The Wings were pasted in Montreal by a 10-1 final and while this one should be much closer I still don’t like the matchup as Winnipeg gets it done.
