The Washington Capitals look to stay red hot as they host the Chicago Blackhawks at the Verizon Center on Wednesday night.
The Blackhawks head into Wednesday night’s show down with the Capitals looking to maintain their recent success against Metro division opponents as they are 10-2 in their last 12 contests but they have dropped four games in a row overall and need to shake out of their early season funk. Chicago came into the season with massive expectations once again as they have the same core for the most part including Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews who have become synonymous with Chicago hockey but they need some help as they haven’t been producing at the clip we are used to seeing and as such the team has suffered and haven’t been as consistent as they had once hoped for. Anton Forsberg is expected to get the start here as he will face off against Braden Holtby who is out to get back to his Vezina Trophy form from a couple seasons ago.

The Capitals look for their sixth win in their last seven tries as they welcome the Hawks to town in what looks like an exciting game on paper but both teams have had issues with consistency this season and both could treat us to a let down. Washington has had plenty of success against the Central division as they are 14-5 in their last 19 games against the Central division and they have won six of their last against the Blackhawks which bodes incredibly well for them in this spot as the Hawks have been awful of late and the Caps appear to be on an upswing.
Chicago is 6-13 in their last 19 games on the road and 3-14 in their last 17 against a team with a winning record while the Capitals are 10-4 in their last 14 Wednesday games and 37-14 intheir last 51 home games. Neither of these teams have been a sure fire lock but the Caps have dominated this series and are in a good spot to do it again tonight.
