The NHL comes to the Honda Center on Friday where the Anaheim Ducks host the Minnesota Wild.
The Minnesota Wild have been in a win a few, lose a few mode and the team knows that isn’t going to move them up the standings. Minnesota saw their opportunity at a three game winning streak end in a 5-2 defeat at the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night. The Wild had issues at both ends of the ice with a 2-1 lead heading to the third before the Kings scored four times. Minnesota score twice in the second with Charlie Coyle and Tyler Ennis lighting the lamp but Devan Dubnyk allowed four goals on 27 shots.

The surging LA Kings received a pair of goals from Marian Gaborik including number 400 of his career. Jake Muzzin, Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe also found the back of the net for Los Angeles with Kopitar adding a pair of helpers and Drew Doughty logging another three. Jonathan Quick was the benefactor of the third period scoring spree as he picked up the win with 19 saves.
The Anaheim Ducks are still struggling and the injury list has gotten no shorter so the team is still trying to keep their heads above water while waiting for players to get back on the ice. Anaheim will be looking for consecutive victories for the first time in weeks after downing the Ottawa Senators 3-0 on Wednesday night for their second win in nine contests. The Senators could not generate any offense and Craig Anderson couldn’t win it himself with three goals allowed on 23 shots.
Following a scoreless opening period, Anaheim opened the scoring with an Adam Henrique goal at 3:47 of the second. The Ducks doubled the advantage with an Ondrej Kase tally at the 11:10 mark. That’s how things remained until Henrique scored his second of the game with only 1:35 remaining in regulation. Ryan Miller stood tall in the nets for the Ducks as he brushed aside 31 shots.
Over is 4-0 in Wild last 4 road games and over is 5-0 in Wild last 5 following a loss of 3 or more goals and over is 4-0 in Wild last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Ducks are 0-4 in their last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and under is 3-0-1 in Ducks last 4 home games and Ducks are 0-5 in their last 5 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation. Under is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings in Anaheim and under is 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings and Wild are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Anaheim.
Neither team is winning and that really is the case for Anaheim. It’s risky betting on a Ducks game in my view but I’m leaning under for now…
