The Columbus Blue Jackets head into New Jersey on Friday night as both teams look to continue their strong start to the season.
The Jackets head into New Jersey on Friday night looking to claim their 18th win of the season against a Devils side that took the league by storm through the first month of the season which sets up a pretty intriguing matchup between two Eastern Conference playoff hopefuls. The Blue Jackets seem to have a thing playing on Friday nights as they are an astounding 20-6 in their last 26 games to kick off the weekend and they have claimed eight of their last 11 overall making them one of the hottest teams in the league but they are coming off a tough loss in their last outing and they haven’t done too well historically when they get blown out in a game and have to rally the next time out. Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to get the nod here as he will face off against Corey Schneider in a show down of two of the league’s top netminders.

The Devils meanwhile have cooled off a little bit since their red hot start to the season but they have had much of their success against Eastern Conference foes this season as they are 7-3 in their last 10 and are in a good spot to keep that trend going in this one. New Jersey has battled inconsistencies of late though as they have lost four of their last five after a victory in their previous game and over the last season and a half they have struggled to win games on home ice. They get a Columbus side in this one who has been able to get wins both at home and on the road at a nice clip so far and with a bit more offensive depth and a strong blue line the Jackets should have the edge in this one.
The Jackets are 21-6 in their last 27 games playing on two days rest and 7-0 in their last seven after scoring two or fewer in their previous game while the Devils are 5-13 in their last 18 against the Metro and 12-25 in their last 37 home games. The Jackets are the better team here and should get it done in enemy territory, keeping their Friday winning ways afloat.
