The Winnipeg Jets welcome the Edmonton Oilers to town in Wednesday NHL action.
The Christmas break might have come at the wrong time for the Edmonton Oilers who have been playing well with wins in seven of ten where both ends of the ice have contributed. Edmonton headed in to the break off of a 4-1 victory versus the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs lone goal came on a second period power play off the stick of Andrew Shaw with Paul Byron and Joe Morrow posting assists.

The Oilers were balanced on the attack with four different players scoring. Ryan Strome, Connor McDavid, Milan Lucic and Jujhar Khaira each lit the lamp. Leon Draisaitl added three helpers and Cam Talbot recorded 29 saves to improve to 14-10-1 while Antti Niemi dropped to 0-5-1 with three goals allowed on 34 shots.
The Winnipeg Jets are looking for some momentum coming out of the Christmas break which can only come from winning hockey games. Winnipeg has dropped four of six after a 5-2 defeat at the New York Islanders on Saturday. Tucker Poolman and Adam Lowry scored for the Jets in the first and third.
The Islanders saw Mathew Barzal post his career hat trick with Anders Lee and Anthony Beauviller also finding the back of the net. Jordan Eberle added three assists and New York got 38 stops from Jaroslav Halak. Steve Mason took the loss for Winnipeg with all five goals allowed on 29 shots.
Oilers are 4-0 in their last 4 overall and Oilers are 5-0 in their last 5 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Oilers are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. Western Conference. Jets are 0-4 in their last 4 games playing on 3 or more days rest and Jets are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. Pacific and Jets are 6-2 in their last 8 vs. a team with a losing record. Road team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Oilers are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.
