The New York Islanders look to snap out of their road woes as they face off against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night.
The Isles head into the MTS Centre looking to continue their recent success against the Jets as they have won five of their last six in Winnipeg and now get the Jets without Mark Schiefele who is on the shelf for the next two months with a shoulder injury. New York has been filling the net this season though and dating back to last season they have hit the over in 24 of their last 31 games and against a Winnipeg side that boasts a ton of offensive weapons even without their star forward this one has the makings of another high scoring affair. New York is expected to send Thomas Greiss to the crease here as he will square off against Connor Hellebuyck who has had a very strong campaign in the Winnipeg crease.

The Jets meanwhile were dealt a serious blow after Mark Schiefele went shoulder first into the boards on Wednesday night against the Edmonton Oilers and after learning he would be out for the better part of two months it has created a ton of uncertainty as to who will step up in the offensive zone in his absence. Winnipeg is an impressive 21-7 in their last 28 games at home and the over has hit in six of the last seven meetings between these two sides but the road team has dominated this season with an 8-2 mark in the last 10 outings and the Isles have dominated the Jets in Winnipeg since they re-entered the league.
The Islanders are winless in their last four road games and 6-17 in their last 23 road games against a team with a home winning percentage over .600 while Winnipeg is 2-6 in their last eight on one day’s rest and 2-5 in their last seven following a win. New York is riding high right now and Winnipeg is without a key contributor but overall I think Winnipeg still has some pieces to succeed and we will see who will step up tonight.
