The Florida Panthers go on the road to face the Minnesota Wild in a Tuesday NHL bout.

The Florida Panthers know their scoring and defense have to improve if the team is going to make a run at the postseason. Florida won five straight and the defense has been the main reason with two shutouts and six goals allowed in this stretch. The Panthers come in off of a 2-0 victory  versus the visiting Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.

Connor Brinkley scored in the second and Vincent Trocheck added an insurance goal in the third period and turned things over to their defense and goaltending. James Reimer brushed aside 38 shots to record his second shutout of the season while Carey Price was strong in absorbing the defeat with a 31 save performance.

The Minnesota Wild haven’t been terrible over the past several weeks with five wins in ten games but when we break things down further we see the offense has managed to score five times in this span and were shutout twice. Minnesota struggled offensively Saturday in a 3-0 defeat at the Nashville Predators.

Nashville did all their damage in the third period Scott Hartnell at 2:23 with PK Subban adding a power play tally at 7:50. Viktor Arvidsson added an empty netter with 2:20 remaining while Calle Jarnkrok added a pair of helpers to lift Nashville and Juuse Saros with his 29 top to the win. Alex Stalock took the loss for the Wild with 26 saves to fall to 7-8-1.

Panthers are 5-0 in their last 5 overall and Panthers are 4-0 in their last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and Panthers are 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win. Wild are 4-0 in their last 4 games following a loss of 3 or more goals and over is 7-1 in Wild last 8 following a loss of 3 or more goals and Wild are 7-1 in their last 8 home games. Panthers are 0-5 in the last 5 meetings in Minnesota and home team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Panthers are 5-15 in the last 20 meetings.

Florida is playing well but their success has come at home so perhaps something on the Wild…
