New York Islanders vs. Boston Bruins - 1/2/18 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Boston Bruins (21-10-6) at New York Islanders (20-15-4)

NHL Hockey: Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 7:00 pm (Barclays Center)

The Line: New York Islanders +102 / Boston Bruins -113 --- Over/Under: 6.5 See the Latest Odds

The Boston Bruins look to continue their surge up the Eastern Conference standings as they take to the road to face off with the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.

The Bruins look to stay red hot and close the gap on the Tampa Bay Lightning for top spot in the Atlantic division as they are 21-10-6 so far this season and are looking like a team that could do some serious damage in the Eastern Conference this season as they have been taking down some of the league’s top teams at a high clip. Boston has onen of the top lines in the league but their secondary scoring has been remarkable and that is a huge reason why they are flying up the league standings and on the road here against the Isles who are clinging to a wild card spot looks like another great opportunity to earn a statement win against a very strong home team.

New York Islanders vs. Boston Bruins - 1/2/18 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Islanders head into tonight’s game with 136 goals this season placing them only behind the Tampa Bay Lightning for tops in the league and it is no secret that they are comfortable getting into a shootout with their opponents as they have a ton of offensive fire power led by John Tavares. However, that high octane offense has only translated to five more wins than losses and the Isles know they need to get their defense and goaltending fixed in a hurry as that is key to a deep postseason run and against teams like Tampa, the New York Rangers, and Washington Capitals the Isles know they need to keep other offenses at bay if they’re going to find success.

The Bruins are 6-1 in their last seven overall but winless in their last four road games while the Isles are 4-9 in their last 13 overall and 14-6 in their last 20 home games. The Bruins are a better team at home than on the road but in this spot as a slight road favourite and a history of taking down the Isles in New York I have to side with them to get it done.
