Thursday NHL action comes to TD Garden where the Boston Bruins host the Florida Panthers.
The Florida Panthers were playing their best hockey of the season with five consecutive victories behind outstanding defense and goaltending before the team was cooled off for a night in a 5-1 defeat at the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night. Jonathan Huberdeau scored the only Panthers goal and the defense couldn’t control the scoreboard.

The Wild saw Eric Staal and Matt Cullen score two goals apiece with Charlie Coyle also reaching the scoring column. Jared Spurgeon also supplied three helpers to make Devan Dubnyk and his 25 saves a winning performance for Minnesota. James Reimer allowed three goals on 26 shots for Florida with Harri Satri coming in to stop 13-14 shots.
The Boston Bruins have been performing at a high level for weeks behind dominant performances at both ends of the ice. Boston has rattled off wins in seven of eight where they have outscored the opposition 30-6 in the wins. The Bruins come off of a 5-1 decision at the New York Islanders on Tuesday night to stay hot with Jordan Eberle scoring in the first period for the Islanders.
The balanced Bruins attack featured five different players scoring with Danton Heinan, Patrice Bergeron, Tim Schaller and Brad Marchand each lighting the lamp. Noel Acciri added an empty net tally and Tuukka Rask made 25 saves for Boston while Jaroslav Halak was charged with four goals on 37 shots for New York.
Panthers are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and Panthers are 5-0 in their last 5 vs. Atlantic and over is 4-0 in Panthers last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Over is 3-0-1 in Bruins last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Bruins are 6-0 in their last 6 vs. Atlantic and Bruins are 4-0 in their last 4 games playing on 1 days rest. Panthers are 3-13 in the last 16 meetings in Boston and under is 10-4-3 in the last 17 meetings in Boston and road team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
I think the only choice here would be the Bruins, otherwise we are guessing when this team will lose again…
