The Buffalo Sabres look to shake out of their ugly early season slump as they take to the road to face off with the Minnesota Wild who have been red hot at home over the last few weeks.

The Sabres are in the midst of a terrible season and things don’t get any easier on Thursday night as they head into Minnesota to take on a Wild team that is 8-1 in their last nine home games and 7-2 in their last nine meetings against Buffalo who has just 15 wins in their last 49 tries against teams from the Central division. Buffalo does have a decent roster and one of the league’s bright young stars in Jack Eichel who they have locked up long term but for some reason they can’t seem to piece everything together and such they are on pace for a top end draft pick instead of a playoff position that many expected them to have at the beginning of the season. Buffalo is expected to send Robin Lehner to the crease here as he will face off against Devan Dubnyk who has backstopped the Wild into a playoff position once again.

USA TODAY Sports

The Wild have had some inconsistency in their game this season and haven’t quite looked like the team they were even a season ago but they look like they are on the mend and are starting to get healthy which has them back in a playoff spot and looking like a team who could go on a run. The Wild head into tonight’s game with a 5-2 mark in their last seven against the Atlantic division and have dominated their series with the Sabres but they have struggled after lighting the lamp in their previous game with a 2-5 mark in their last seven after scoring three or more in their last outing and while Buffalo isn’t a contender by any means this is a spot for them to perhaps pull off a huge upset.

The Sabres are 17-45 in their last 62 overall and 6-15 in their last 21 against the West while the Wild are 6-1 in their last seven on one day’s rest and 39-19 in their last 58 Thursday games. Buffalo is a mess and while Minnesota has had some issues they look to be resolved and should cruise in this one.
