The Barclays Center and the New York Islanders host the New Jersey Devils in a Sunday NHL tilt.
The New Jersey Devils haven’t been playing well but are still second in the Metropolitan for now. New Jersey has lost four in a row following a 4-3 defeat at the Dallas Stars on Thursday night. Taylor Hall paced the Devils attack with a goal and two assists while Brian Boyle and Kyle Palmieri also scored.

The Stars were balanced at the offensive end of the ice with Alexander Radulov, Tyler Seguin, Brett Ritchie and Mattias Janmark all finding the back of the net. Radulov also logged a pair of helpers to lift Ben Bishop and his 39 saves to the win for Dallas while Cory Schneider made 29 save for New Jersey.
The New York Islanders have been struggling at both ends of the ice and the result has been four consecutive defeats and 7th place in the Metropolitan. New York comes off of a 4-0 defeat to the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night who are also struggling for wins and points.
Pittsburgh broke the game wide open with a three goal second period. Daniel Sprong paced the Penguins scoring with a pair of goals with Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby also lighting the lamp. Crosby added three assists and Tristian Jarry recorded 31 saves to earn the shutout for Pittsburgh. Jarolav Halak absorbed the loss for the Islanders with 34 stops.
Over is 4-0 in Devils last 4 vs. Metropolitan and Devils are 0-4 in their last 4 overall and Devils are 0-5 in their last 5 road games. Islanders are 0-4 in their last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and Islanders are 0-5 in their last 5 overall and over is 6-0-1 in Islanders last 7 following a loss of 3 or more goals. Devils are 0-7 in the last 7 meetings in New York and under is 8-2-4 in the last 14 meetings and Devils are 5-16 in the last 21 meetings.
Neither team has been playing well so I’m leaning on the trend that says the New York Islanders have fared well in this matchup…
