The Tampa Bay Lightning look to continue their remarkable start to the season as they welcome the Carolina Hurricanes to town on Tuesday night.

The Canes look to improve on their disappointing road record as they head into Tampa Bay to take on the league’s best team in a Tuesday night show down where the visitors come in as massive underdogs. Carolina has quietly had a nice start to the season but most of their success has come at home and they have just four road wins in their last 13 tries but they have had success against the Atlantic division with a 7-3 stretch in their last 10 contests but they will need a very strong effort here if they’re going to pull off the win against a very talented Lightning side. Carolina is expected to send Scott Darling to the crease here who’s save percentage has dipped below the .900 mark as he will face off against Andrei Vasileskiy who has played his way into the discussion for the Vezina Trophy as the league’s top goaltender.

The Lightning meanwhile have been the league’s best team seemingly since the first puck dropped back in October and they are a very serious threat to win the Stanley Cup this season as they have so much fire power up front, a deep blue line, and one of the best young goaltenders in the league. Tampa has gone on a tear at home lately as they are 20-6 in their last 26 games in Tampa Bay and have absolutely dominated the Canes over the last few years with a sparkling 20-6 mark in the last 26 contests between these two Eastern Conference foes. The Bolts are heavy favourites here for good reason and while Carolina would be a nice play if they can get it to overtime even but it is hard to believe they can get that done.

The Canes are 1-4 in their last five Tuesday games and 4-9 in their last 13 road games while the Bolts are 5-1 in their last six Tuesday games and 38-14 in their last 52 overall. Carolina will put up a fight but in the end the Bolts will get it done in regulation and that is the best advice we can give here.
