The Columbus Blue Jackets return home after a tough loss in Buffalo last night as they welcome the Vancouver Canucks at Nationwide Arena on Friday night.
The Canucks look to pull off a road upset heading into the weekend as they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night less than 24 hours after their opponents dropped a disappointing contest in Buffalo and are still short handed without some key pieces in the offensive zone. The Canucks will look to send former head coach John Tortorella to another loss but you can bet that Columbus’ group will look to give their current coach one of their better efforts of the season as Torts’ tenure wasn’t exactly the greatest in Western Canada and a win here would be a nice feeling for the Jackets heading into the weekend. Vancouver is expected to send Jacob Markstrom to the crease here as he will face off against Sergei Bobrovsky who has been a work horse in the Columbus crease, though did take the loss last nigh

The Jackets need to get back on track as they have stumbled over the last couple of weeks but they have been dominant against the Pacific division with a 10-3 record in their last 13 tries and have an impressive 20-6 mark in their last 26 games on Friday. Columbus is still without Cam Atkinson and while he is just one player he is one of the team’s better forwards and provides a nice skillset in the offensive zone but that isn’t to say the Jackets can’t win without him and are expected to do so here according to the odds makers. However, the Canucks have dominated this series with a 16-6 mark in their last 22 against Columbus and the road team has won the last six show downs which makes the Canucks worth a look here.
The Canucks are 5-2 in their last seven Friday games and 18-42 in their last 60 overall while the Jackets are 44-19 in their last 63 home games and are 1-4 in their last five home games against Vancouver. Something about this matchup gives us hope with the Canucks, especially if Bobrovsky is out but either way the value on the Canucks is the play.
