The Philadelphia Flyers visit the Prudential Center to take on the New Jersey Devils in a Saturday NHL tilt.
The Philadelphia Flyers have been hot and cold over the first half of the season and it would serve the team well to avoid such highs and lows. Philadelphia is running hot right now with wins in four of five following a 4-1 victory versus the Buffalo Sabres. The struggling Sabres led 1-0 in the second on a Ryan O’Reilly tally before the Flyers took command.

Sean Couturier led the Philadelphia comeback with a pair of goals with Shayne Gostisbehere and Ivan Provorov also lighting the lamp. Jakub Voracek added two helpers and Michal Neuvirth stopped 30 for the Flyers. Robin Lehner absorbed the loss for the Sabres with 25 saves.
The New Jersey Devils were a team you did not want to face a few short weeks ago but that hasn’t been the case since with the team dropping five in a row. New Jersey fell 5-4 to the New York Islanders in a shootout last time out where the defense struggled. Travis Zajac scored twice for the Devils with Miles Wood and Taylor Hall joining the scoring column.
The balanced New York offense received goals from Anders Lee, Anthony Beauvillier, Sebastian Aho and Cal Clutterbuck in regulation. Brock Nelson secured the two points for the Islanders with a 5th round goal in the SO to make Jaroslav Halak’s 42 saves while Cory Schneider stopped 34 shots in defeat.
Flyers are 4-0 in their last 4 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game and under is 5-0-1 in Flyers last 6 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 8-1 in Flyers last 9 vs. Metropolitan. Devils are 0-5 in their last 5 overall and under is 4-0 in Devils last 4 games playing on 3 or more days rest and over is 5-0 in Devils last 5 vs. Metropolitan. Home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings and Flyers are 4-11 in the last 15 meetings in New Jersey.
I think the off week might have hurt Philadelphia and gave New Jersey time to regroup so I’m leaning to the home squad…
