The Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins meet up in BeanTown on Saturday night in an Original Six show down between two of the best in the East.
The Leafs are coming off two huge victories and are hoping for another as they take to the road to face off with the Bruins in what should be an incredibly exciting matchup between two Eastern Conference playoff contenders. Toronto has won four games in a row but have struggled against divisional opponents as they have dropped four of their last five against the Atlantic and the Bruins are one of the league’s hottest teams with a 24-8 mark in their last 32 games and are 8-2 in their last 10 at the TD Garden. Toronto is expected to send Frederik Andersen to the crease here as he will face off against Tuukka Rask who will look for yet another win against the team that drafted him in what could be a first round playoff show down.

The Bruins meanwhile have been one of the league’s best teams since the puck dropped back in October and while they are still without Brad Marchand who is serving another suspension they have a ton of depth at both ends of the rink and do match up well against the Leafs. Boston has struggled against Toronto though as the Buds have won six games in a row against the Bruins including four in a row at the TD Garden and while Boston has thrashed divisional opponents this season this looks like it is shaping up to be a closer game than the line might indicate. Boston is 5-1 in their last six games against a team with a winning record and have hit the under in their last five games at home which should make this a tight contest with overtime as a strong possibility.
The Leafs are 4-9 in their last 13 on one day’s rest and 4-0 in their last four Saturday games while the B’s are 19-7 in their last 26 against the East and 66-30 in their last 96 Saturday games. Toronto is coming off two big wins and have dominated this series and as a road dog they are well worth the play here as they have more offensive fire power.
