The Line: New York Islanders / Nashville Predators --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Nashville Predators head into Brooklyn looking for a big road victory as they take on the New York Islanders on Monday night.
The Predators look to stay red hot and claim their ninth win in their last 11 games as they head into the Barclay’s Center to face off with the Islanders who have struggled to a 2-5 mark in their last seven home games and things don’t get any easier here as they host a Nashville side who had their issues playing in New York. Nashville has been spectacular playing on Monday as they have won 23 of their last 29 games to start the week and with a 5-2 mark in their last seven games against Metro division opponents they should be considered a favourite in this spot, though confirmation on starting goaltenders will determine what the final line will look like. The Preds have a huge edge on the blue line and in the crease as they are one of the stingiest teams in the league while the Isles are the exact opposite and have the league’s worst team defense and have allowed the most goals in the NHL.

The Isles meanwhile have had issues with consistency this season and have had a terrible time in the defensive zone as they concede goals at an alarming clip and until they can fix things up a bit they are going to have a tough time getting into the playoffs. New York though has had success in this series in the past as they are 6-2 in their last eight meetings with the Predators and are 25-10 in their last 35 Monday games which does bode well for them here but they know they will need one of their better efforts of the season as the Predators have been one of the league’s hottest teams over the last couple of weeks. Thomas Greiss is expected to get the start as he will face off against Pekka Rinne which gives the road side the edge in the crease and should impact the outcome of the final.
The Preds are 6-0 in their last six games on one day’s rest and 8-2 in their last 10 overall while the Isles are 3-8 in their last 11 following a win and 2-5 in their last seven home games. Nashville is the better team and while New York has had success in this series I just don’t see their offense being able to do enough to get the win against a strong Nashville side.
