The New Jersey Devils and Ottawa Senators meet Tuesday in NHL action at the Canadian Tire Centre.

The New Jersey Devils look for a spark of consistency after splitting their last 12 games. The New Jersey Devils are averaging three goals per game and are scoring on 20.4 percent of their power play opportunities. Taylor Hall leads New Jersey with 18 goals, Will Butcher has 27 assists and Nico Hischier has 117 shots on goal. Defensively, the New Jersey Devils are allowing 2.9 goals per game and are killing 82.7 percent of their opponents power plays. Cory Schneider has given up 96 goals on 1,108 shots faced and Keith Kinkaid has allowed 45 goals on 440 shots. The New Jersey Devils have allowed three or less goals in each of their last nine games.

The Ottawa Senators also need a victory after losing seven of their last nine games. The Ottawa Senators are averaging 2.5 goals per game and are scoring on 15.7 percent of their power play opportunities. Mark Stone leads Ottawa with 18 goals, Erik Karlsson has 29 assists and Mike Hoffman has 167 shots on goal. Defensively, the Ottawa Senators are allowing 3.4 goals per game and are killing 74.5 percent of their opponents power plays. Craig Anderson has given up 110 goals on 1,136 shots faced and Mike Condon has allowed 54 goals on 551 shots. The Ottawa Senators have allowed three or more goals in 11 of their last 13 games.

The Devils are 2-8 in their last 10 road games, 7-3 in their last 10 games playing on 2 days rest and 7-2 in their last 9 games following a win. The Senators are 0-7 in their last 7 Tuesday games, 1-4 in their last 5 home games and 17-35 in their last 52 overall. The Devils are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Ottawa and the under is 34-16-4 in the last 54 meetings.

I'm not trying to back either one of these teams, as the Devils have been hot and cold all year and are downright awful on the road. The Ottawa Senators are awful just about anywhere they play and have been getting beat like a drum on the defensive end. This is a no play for me, but if forced to pick, I'd side with the Senators just because they're at home. It's the only advantage you have in a battle between two subpar teams playing bad hockey.
