The Prudential Center and the New Jersey Devils host the Calgary Flames in an NHL matchup on Thursday.

The Calgary Flames are out to solidify their playoff position in the second half of the season as the team tries to shake off some recent struggles. Calgary had lost six straight before winning back to back contests after a 3-2 victory at the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.

New Jersey Devils vs. Calgary Flames - 2/8/18 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Blackhawks received a first period goal from Alex Debrincat and Patrick Kane with just seven seconds remaining in the game with Jeff Glass absorbing the loss with 20 saves. The Flames offense saw scoring from Dougie Hamilton, Michael Stone and Sean Monahan with Johnny Gaudreau adding two assists to make a winner of Mike Smith and his 34 stops.

The New Jersey Devils ended the first half of 2017-18 in disarray with three goals in four consecutive defeats. New Jersey won three straight to begin the second half before a 5-3 loss a Ottawa ended the good times. The Devils received goals from Travis Zajac, Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri with Keith Kinkaid allowing four goals on 20 shots before Eddie Lack stopped 11-12 in relief.

The balanced offense of the Senators featured five different goal scorers with Mike Hoffman, Christopher DiDomenico, Matt Duchene, Colin White and Zack Smith each lighting the lamp. Duchene also added a pair of helpers and Craig Anderson picked up the win for Ottawa with 30 saves.

Flames are 0-4 in their last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 4-0 in Flames last 4 Thursday games and Flames are 4-0 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Devils are 1-5 in their last 6 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 4-1 in Devils last 5 Thursday games and under is 4-1 in Devils last 5 games playing on 1 days rest. Flames are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings and under is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings in New Jersey and over is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings.

I don’t see a significant difference in play here so I’m thinking a stab with the better odds is the most logical choice…
